Convert HEIC to PNG Online — Lossless & Private.

Preserve every pixel of your iPhone photos by converting HEIC to lossless PNG format. No compression artifacts, no quality degradation, no server uploads. Your images stay on your device throughout the entire process.

Why choose PNG over JPG?

When you convert HEIC to JPG, you're moving from one lossy compression format to another — meaning some image data is permanently discarded during encoding. PNG is fundamentally different: it uses lossless compression, which means every single pixel in your original HEIC file is perfectly preserved in the output. This makes PNG the ideal choice for screenshots, digital artwork, images with text overlays, graphics with sharp edges, and any photo where absolute quality preservation matters more than file size. PNG files are typically larger than JPGs, but you'll never notice compression artifacts like banding, blocking, or color bleed in the converted result.

Transparency support

One of PNG's key advantages over JPG is its support for alpha transparency. While standard iPhone photos don't typically include transparent regions, HEIC files created by certain apps, photo editors, or the iOS screenshot tool may contain transparency data. When you convert these files to JPG, that transparency information is lost and replaced with a solid white or black background. Converting to PNG preserves the alpha channel, keeping transparent and semi-transparent regions intact. This is essential for designers, developers, and content creators who need to layer images over different backgrounds or use them in graphic design workflows.

Professional-grade conversion in your browser

Our HEIC to PNG converter uses WebAssembly-powered decoding to process your Apple photos at native quality. The conversion pipeline first decodes the HEIC container's HEVC-compressed image data, then re-encodes it as a PNG with full 8-bit-per-channel color depth. No intermediate compression step means no generational quality loss. The entire process runs locally in your browser — your photos are never uploaded to any server, making this the most private way to convert HEIC files online. Batch convert dozens of files at once, with each image processed sequentially to keep memory usage efficient. When finished, download all your PNG files individually or as a convenient ZIP archive. Whether you're preparing images for print production, archiving family photos at maximum quality, or converting screenshots for a design project, our lossless HEIC to PNG converter delivers pixel-perfect results every time.

FAQ

HEIC to PNG Conversion Questions.

Is PNG really lossless? Will my converted photos look identical?
Yes, PNG uses lossless compression, meaning the pixel data in the output file is mathematically identical to the decoded HEIC source. Unlike JPG, which discards some color information to achieve smaller files, PNG preserves every detail. The only "loss" that could occur is the initial HEIC decode step, since the original HEIC was already compressed — but once decoded, the PNG output captures that data perfectly.
Why are PNG files larger than the original HEIC files?
HEIC uses HEVC (H.265) lossy compression, which is one of the most efficient image codecs available. PNG's lossless compression cannot match HEVC's compression ratios because it must preserve every bit of data. A typical 3 MB HEIC file might become a 15-25 MB PNG. This is normal and expected — the tradeoff is that you get a pixel-perfect copy with no quality degradation.
Will my PNG files preserve transparency from the original HEIC?
If the original HEIC file contains an alpha channel (transparency data), our converter will preserve it in the PNG output. Standard iPhone photos don't include transparency, but HEIC files from apps like Procreate, Pixelmator, or iOS Screenshots may have transparent regions that will be faithfully maintained.
When should I choose PNG over JPG for my HEIC conversion?
Choose PNG when quality is your top priority: archival storage, print production, design work, screenshots, or images with text. Choose JPG when file size matters more: web uploads, email attachments, social media, or general photo sharing. For most casual photo sharing, JPG at 90% quality is perfectly fine. For professional or archival use, PNG is the better choice.
