Why We Built Heic to Jpg.
Apple's High Efficiency Image Container (HEIC) format is fantastic for reducing storage consumption on mobile devices, but sharing these files often results in compatibility issues. Most web utilities that convert HEIC to JPEG require you to upload your files to their remote servers.
Uploading photos exposes your private data, incurs slow transfer times, and is restricted by artificial file limits or constant overlay advertisements. We built this utility to solve these issues.
Our Local-First Technology.
By leveraging modern web tech—specifically WebAssembly (WASM)—we compiled the open-source C-based libheif decoder directly into a browser-executable module.
When you select a file on this website, it is converted locally inside your browser. This design yields several distinct advantages:
- Total Privacy: Your images are processed in your browser's secure memory space. They are never uploaded, storing zero logs.
- Instant Launch: There are no network upload delays. Conversion starts as soon as files are dropped.
- Offline Capability: Once loaded, you can run the entire conversion process without an internet connection.

Heic to Jpg is an open-source project supported by developers globally. The website is free of charge and contains no commercial user-tracking hooks.
